Take Action on the "The Day of Accountability"

Free Bradley Manning!

Friday, July 26, 4PM
Fort McNair, Washington, D.C.
4th and Pst, SW (Waterfront Metro)

Those in power intend to make an example out of Whistle-blower PFC Bradley Manning, and to send a message to other brave like whistle-blowers, like Edward Snowden, to be scared and stay silent. It is our job to send a different message; IF YOU COME FORWARD, WE WILL DEFEND YOU, BOTH IN THE COURTROOM AND IN THE STREETS. And that’s what we intent to do!

As Commanding General of the Military District of Washington, Army Major General Jeffery S. Buchanan is the convening authority of the US government's case against Bradley Manning, and he has the power to free or reduce Bradley's sentence. Join us on July 26th outside of the General's office to demand "General Buchanan, Do The Right Thing - FREE BRADLEY MANNING!"

We believe that Bradley's actions, like those more recently of Edward Snowden, were a necessary breach of law. Both of these brave souls acted with the intention of exposing the crimes of a government that has long shielded its own violations of the Constitution and of both domestic and international law in the false name of "Homeland Security." This supposed security has brought two prolonged occupations in Afghanistan and Iraq, a growing web of secret CIA drone wars, and the highest rate of global terrorism since the 1990 invasion of Iraq.

Edward Snowden's actions -- in exposing a vast domestic spying database under the control of the National Security Agency -- reveal there are other whistle-blowers in the ranks of the intelligence world who are beginning to come forward, exposing government lies.

Army Private Bradley Manning is currently facing life in prison for leaking hundreds of thousands of secret military, diplomatic, and corporate documents to WikiLeaks. Held at Fort Meade, Maryland, he will be convicted and sentenced sometime this summer.

Since his arrest in May 2010, the Bradley Manning Support Network has been mobilizing in Bradley's defense. At the start of his court martial on June 1st, we gathered a crowd of more than 1,000 people at the front gates of Fort Meade to demand his freedom. Now it’s time to take action again to Free Bradley Manning!

We are calling upon you to take action on July 26th. The action starts at 4pm and we are asking folks to arrive by 5pm. We understand many of you work 9-5pm so we are giving you two weeks notice to ask your employer if you can leave work early on Friday July 26th. This action will demonstrate that we want General Buchanan to free Bradley Manning.

DMV area folks please spread the word by downloading the poster from our website and posting it around your neighborhood or workplace. To volunteer or help with outreach, contact: Carrie 202-714-8530 / [email protected]
