Drugs weren’t real and guns were plastic, investigators say

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – Geneva police put public broadcaster RTS on the spot late Wednesday by issuing the result of an investigation into the city’s drug scene, following a dramatic TV report in May 2014.

Police close to the drug scene were skeptical after the “Temps Présent” programme 29 May showed Africans in a Geneva apartment, who claimed to have drug dealers working for them on the streets of Geneva. They showed off an arsenal of war weapons, claiming the latter came from Albania and the drugs from Spain and Amsterdam.

The investigation turned up the man identified on the programme as “Snake”, who, according to police, had a small amount of marijuana in his possession and who admitted to greatly exaggerating his role in the city’s drug scene. The weapons, most of which were found, were plastic copies.
