The real cause of Guantanamo
« on: October 22, 2011, 03:03:47 AM »

I believe this place is not only for prisoners, but people who attract threat towards the government.

There have been countless times which innocent people have been forcefully sent to this awful place.

And with what evidence? None. The only thing they have been doing is extracting the truth out of the government.

Correct me if I am wrong.

It's not a secret  that Jail is big business, from outside you see a building with all the things like Guard tower and etc, but inside you have different world with different rules.

@ Baran & Yummy (good name for a Deli by the way  ;))

Here is a summing up by Wikipedia on Guantanamo status and operation:

Criticism and condemnation

"European Union members and the Organization of American States, as well as non-governmental organizations such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, have protested the legal status and physical condition of detainees at Guantánamo. The human rights organization Human Rights Watch has criticized the Bush administration over this designation in its 2003 world report, stating: "Washington has ignored human rights standards in its own treatment of terrorism suspects. It has refused to apply the Geneva Conventions to prisoners of war from Afghanistan, and has misused the designation of 'illegal combatant' to apply to criminal suspects on U.S. soil." On May 25, 2005, Amnesty International released its annual report calling the facility the "gulag of our times."[162][163] Lord Steyn called it "a monstrous failure of justice," because "... The military will act as interrogators, prosecutors and defense counsel, judges, and when death sentences are imposed, as executioners. The trials will be held in private. None of the guarantees of a fair trial need be observed."[164]"

Guantanamo happened because we had ignorant sadists in power and no one with any authority had the guts to say no to them.  They involved so many people in carrying out human rights abuses that we'll never be able to hold them all accountable for it.  It will take a lot of public pressure to get our government to close the place, and we have presidential nominees saying they would continue to keep the place open.  It's despicable that there are people who support torture and I'd love to vote them out of office.
Ideas can't hurt you, no matter how strange the idea may be, it's people you have to worry about...
