Driver Arnas Rakchai, 31, was heading to Prachuap Khiri Khan when he lost control and crashed into a tree in Moo 4 village of tambon Ta Mapha. Mr Arnas sustained minor injuries after the vehicle flipped.

Inside the heavily damaged Isuzu police found 120 scaly anteaters, seven of which had died. The animals, weighing 400kg altogether, were locked in stacks of plastic containers covered in black mesh bags.
Police also recovered 200kg of pangolin scales. The entire load was valued at about two million baht, Pol Lt Banjong Sakpimol, duty officer at Lang Suan police station said.

Mr Arnas was en route from Nakhon Si Thammarat to Prachuap Khiri Khan, where he planned to deliver the animals to a wildlife-smuggling gang, police said.

Further investigation was underway to arrest more people involved in the smuggling, Pol Lt Banjong said.
