The intention of this assembly is to provide the People with a non-oppressive, non-hierarchical and non-confrontational space to discuss issues and projects relevant to envisioning a better world. This will be a safe space to practice public dissent.

These Popular Assemblies will be a place for project, action, affinity and other groups (like Occupy the Pipeline, Stop Stop and Frisk, Sunset Park Rent Strike, Strike Debt, Chicago Teachers Strike solidarity and others) from all over to come together each week in a space where they can discuss, recruit and share resources. It will also be a space for the People to decide what they want to talk about that week.

6:00 – 6:15 pm
Intro to facilitation, discussion topic (proposed by the assembly)

6:15 – 7:15 pm
break outs of five to ten people each, to discuss action projects and discussion topic

7:15 – 8:00 pm

A popular assembly is a self-organized, autonomous, non-hierarchical group of people who come together to meet.
The assemblies are inclusive and develop in process rather than being pre-planned.
Popular assemblies form as a furious alternative to electoral politics.
It takes direct democracy to the participants and abandons the useless representative government.
By definition, a people’s assembly (asamblea popular) must be anti-capitalist and anti-neoliberal.
