The ruling Tunisian Islamic Renaissance Party on Sunday said it is willing to hold unconditional talks with the opposition in an attempt to resolve the current political crisis.

Party leader Fathi Ayadi told reporters that talks could begin at the end of the week to discuss the opposition's request to form an interim technocratic government.

He added that the Renaissance Party calls for an immediate dialogue attended by all opposition parties and the ruling coalition, without conditions.

The leader of the Renaissance movement, Rachid Ghannouchi, had rejected that request last Thursday, attracting criticism from opposition leaders who accuse the movement of incompetence and underestimation of the danger of violent Salafi militants.
