Wikileaks fundraising lunch on eBay
« on: June 14, 2011, 07:19:30 AM »
Saw this on Twitter just now:

WikiLeaks fundraising auction starts now! Lunch with Assange and Zizek: 8 places: is.gd/CHxqMj

Anyone bidding??? I'd love to but the added costs of airfares from Australia rules me out dammit!
There is a certain dramatic irony attached to all this. A synchronicity that borders on predestination, one might say.

I saw that!  And the link on twitter is for 5 of 8, I want to track all 8!  Should we keep an updated tally?  or would that jinx it.  :p

Great idea Lizrex! Love the idea of keeping track of all eight spots! Hhmm just did a search and could only find 4 listings now, me confused!

But there is only one spot I could find with a bid (£350)!

Four must be the first set then they will put up the other four probably.

To watch the bids just make an account on ebay and you can add them to your watchlist.  Just search 'lunch' and 'assange' that's how I found them.

It's so exciting I so wish I could afford this.  Can someone lend me 1 million?  hehe Just so I can place the 'highest bidder' slot.  :D

How is it that Paypal is the payment option for this?  I miss something?

I don't have a million (sorry) Lisrex, but I was thinking maybe we could toss around the idea of a few of us forum members chipping in to send one of us (yes that could be you!) along??? I am a bit worried about how high the bids might get - but I'd be willing to possibly do this, especially as I'm so far away that attending is not an option...

An autograph would seal the deal for me!  ;D

WHOA!!!

I just checked eBay to see how the bids are going!! £4000, £3000, £1850, £1120

Yup, safe to say I had no hope of winning a seat lol! I'll see if I can get prices for the other 4 seats!

The four tickets on eBay just finished their run, going for $5,549.44, $8,729.10, $5,981.05 and $5,174.42.  That is a grand total of $25,434.01 raised for WL.

Will we get to know anything about the lunch? Who was there and what it was like. Just curious :)
